If you are looking for a day trip from the Beachfront Inn at Baileys
Harbor, taking the ferry to Washington Island is a perfect getaway.
Driving to Northport where you board the ferry, will take you about
25 minutes. The ferry ride across to Washington Island usually takes
40 minutes. During this time, you get to enjoy viewing two
lighthouses and Plum Island. Whether you take your vehicle to the island, plan on biking or taking the Cherry Train Tour, there is much to enjoy on Washington Island. The ferry returns to the mainland every half hour, throughout the summer and fall. If you’re feeling
adventurous take another ferry and visit Rock Island, a primitive
912 acre island where cars and bikes are not allowed. It houses
Pottawatomie Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in Wisconsin. Step
back in time and enjoy!
